*For this article, I used Skype for Android, not the Verizon version. Skype for Android, on the other hand, lets you place domestic and international calls over a 3G or Wi-Fi connection. Skype Mobile for Verizon does not allow you to place domestic calls, but you can still place international calls over a 3G or Wi-Fi connection. If you have an Android device, you may see two versions of Skype-one called “Skype for Android,” and one called “Skype Mobile for Verizon.”* If you have a Verizon Android device, you may download the Skype Mobile for Verizon app (otherwise, download the Skype for Android app). If you have an iPod Touch 3 rd generation or an iPhone 3G, you will be able to receive only video. From there, select “Settings.”Īt the bottom of this menu, there’s an option that reads “Advanced.” Head in there.Supported iOS devices include: iPhone (3G, 3GS, and 4), iPod Touch (3 rd and 4 th generations), and iPad (1 and 2). It’s like turning off “Reply All” in email, but for text messages.įirst, you’ll need to jump into Messenger’s settings by tapping the three-button overflow menu on the app’s main screen. But by tweaking one setting in Google Messenger for Android, you can actually send the same text to as many people as you want and receive replies individually. In order for that to happen, you might think you have to send multiple texts.

Like I said, in many circumstances, this method just makes sense.īut what if you need to say the same thing to a lot of different people, but don’t want the replies to show up for everyone? For example, let’s say you’re throwing a party for your child and want people to RSVP–those replies only need to come just to you. When someone replies, that reply goes to everyone in the group.

The way group messaging works most of the time is pretty straightforward: the SMS is converted to MMS, then sent to everyone on the distribution list. When you’re trying to get a group of people altogether and a conversation needs to happen, putting everyone in the same message is the way to go. Sometimes, group messages just make more sense than sending individual messages.
